Owner: Hillman G E (from the Electoral Register) one of the seven sons of Edward Hillman, the solicitor. George Hillman was living with his Russian wife Olga Michailoff Urusova at his parents' home in College Road, Eastbourne. Did they have plans to move back to Lewes, one wonders?
1901 Census: Ernest Brooke (32) Manager of an Insurance Office and his wife Edith Ellen Brooke (28) both from Birmingham; one servant, Agnes Deacon (23) from Lewes.
1911 Census: "Glen Lyn" Harry Albert Venus (40) Timber Merchant, married; his wife Florence Mabel Venus (38), their son Donald Leslie Venus (5), and one servant, Louisa Judith Lower (20) from Newhaven. Harry Albert Venus & Florence Tickner were married 1898.

Lancelot and Xarifa (MS Sanctuary) were married in Petersfield in 1912. [RGO 1912/2 Petersfield 2c 361] There were two older boys: Peter S Edwards b.1913 and Harry J Edwards b.1917. Patricia b.1921 is registered as Phyllis J Edwards....

WW1: Valentine Boys enlisted in the army, but was discharged (aged 18) in 1917 as "no longer fit for war service".
