Ad Completorium
You will find below a form of Compline (pdf) which was used by a small and dedicated group of singers, led by His Honour Judge Michael Kennedy QC, for over thirty years. Their aim was to sing Compline once a month in some of the pre-Reformation churches lying in the Sussex River Ouse Valley near Lewes.
Examples of Churches visited....St Pancras, Kingston; St Nicholas, Iford; St Peter, Rodmell; St Peter Southease; St John the Evangelist, Piddinghoe; and many more beyond the River Ouse Valley, but all in Sussex.
I was responsible for setting the service in its present form, using a remarkable font for Gregorian Chant provided by the monks of St Meinrad Archabbey in Indiana, USA. Now that the original group of singers has disbanded (sadly, due to age and ill health among other things) I would like to make this Benedictine version of Compline more widely available via the Internet.
